Date: December 7, 1998
Album:
Written by: Don Gibson
Note: This song was the B side to Oh Lonesome Me. The studio heads
didn't think this song was really sellable. But Don pointed out that since it was the B side it didn't really have to be hot selling song. Studio agreed. What a surprise it must have been for them all when this 45rpm turned out to be a double sided hit record. This is the most re-recorded song in the history of music.
I don't have this song so I don't know if these are any recordings chords but they sound good.
I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU Don Gibson
D7 G G7 C
Those happy hours that we once knew
G A7
Though long a-go still make me blue
D7 G G7 C
They say that time heals a broken heart
G D7 G C G
But time has stood still since we've been apart
CHORUS I:
G7 C G
I can't stop loving you so I've made up my mind
D7 G
To live in memory of old lonesome times
G7 C G
I can't stop wanting you It's useless to say
D7 G C G
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yester-day
Repeat first verse but go to chorus II
CHORUS II
G7 C G
I can't stop loving you there's no use to try
D7 G
Pretend there's someone new I can't live a lie
G7 C G
I can't stop wanting you the way that I do
D7 G C G
There's only been one love for me that one love is you
